LALA Closing In Weeks....

Streaming service Lala.com has announced it will be shutting down on May 31, 2010.
The announcement on its Web site has prompted speculation that Lala's owner Apple Inc. is ready to make use of Lala's staff and technology to roll out its own cloud-based service. Apple acquired Lala in December 2009 for an undisclosed sum.
The message states that "Lala is shutting down," adding that "Unfortunately, we are no longer accepting new users." Members can still log in and use the service until May 31.
The signs were there for an impending closure. This month Lala discontinued uploading songs through its Music Mover application and closed the beta testing for its iPhone app.
Lala launched in March 2006. It claimed to have 8 million licensed songs available for registered users.
It was reported that Apple acquired Lala for $80 million, although TechCrunch said it was actually much lower - $17 million. A proxy statement filed by Lala minority stake holder Warner Music Group later suggested it wasn't even as high as that.
From the email sent to Lala users:
In appreciation of your support over the last five years, you will receive a credit in the amount of your Lala web song purchases for use on Apple's iTunes Store. If you purchased and downloaded MP3 songs from Lala, those songs will continue to play as part of your local music library.
Remaining wallet balances and unredeemed gift cards will be converted to iTunes Store credit (or can be refunded upon request). Gift cards can be redeemed on Lala until May 31st.

MIDPOINT MUSIC FESTIVAL - Submissions Through Sonicbids

MidPoint Music Festival is the Midwest’s premier independent music festival. Now celebrating its ninth year, the Cincinnati festival lives up to its slogan, "Music Starts Here", by bringing the region together to celebrate the music of over 300 performers from all around the world. 150 slots are reserved for Sonicbids members.
The festival atmosphere is always friendly and supportive as musicians, fans and professionals together enjoy the midwest's annual musical mecca. MPMF focuses on helping emerging artists gain quality exposure by performing for a dedicated and passionate audience. Each performer receives unique print review in Cincinnati CityBeat, the city's music authority and producing entity of MidPoint. The entire city excitedly points its media resources to cover this event including repeated stories from all local TV news affiliates, newspapers, magazines and blogs. Feel free to wear your sunglasses at night. Those camera flashes can blind.

MACHINE OEM - Studio Update.....
Machine OEM have been busy recording the album, they hit the studio at the end of March and last week finally laid down the last of the lead guitar and vocals.
Before they finished they were joined by Mark Haze of 12th Avenue, a band who've had their own successes in South Africa with a string of singles getting exposure on various radio stations. Mark was recording backing vocals for 2 new tracks. 12th Avenue are one of Machine OEM's favourite bands so they were "stoked to have him working on the album."
Having now left Bellville studios, the band are eagerly waiting the first mixes of the album, and are setting to work on their PR plan. The band are really excited about the album and have really enjoyed working with Theo. You can read all the details on their blog. The artwork is also underway, stay tuned to their blog to get an exclusive peak, coming soon...

FRIENDS FOR HIRE - Recently "Let Go"
Ok. So some of you may have heard. Friends For Hire did in-fact break up. The reason: We were hitting a roadblock and we just weren't moving forward as a group anymore. Treading water can only get you so far for so long. This doesn't mean that music is over for any of us. I am going to start a new project in the near future and I'm sure the other guys are going to definitely do great things in music. So keep a look out for all of us. I love all of them and just remember that this isn't the end for any of us.
We would like to thank all the fans over the years for all the support. Anyone who ever came out to a show, and anyone who ever bought anything to help us get to our next show!I Or even anyone who ever stole our music and gave it to their friends. We love you all. :)

Mindwalk Blvd in NY City
Mindwalk Blvd will be opening for the band Pearl at the famed Webster Hall in NYC on April 28th.
Featured in Pearl is Scott Ian of Anthrax. The show is sponsored by Revolver magazine and should be a great event.
Mindwalk Blvd go on at 8pm. We will be giving away tickets so stay tuned.

...and the latest news...
So we are giving it a go at band wars this year! Round one was great and we got through to the semifinals which will be held April 15th and 22nd! Had a couple too many but a guy's gotta do that from time to time for sanity's sake. Gonna make it a point to go out to as many Thursdays as possible.
Check out the other bands and show some support. Great to see it is a lot better run then previous years. We'll post when we are on next. Some real good bands out there with the semifinals looking to be pretty good i think metal and rock.

Downstait are finally back home in Indiana, resting from the Chemical Valley Spring Tour we just completed with Bobaflex. All of us had the time of our lives playing in each and every club and spending time to meet each and every one of you. We’d love to come back as soon as possible, but that won’t happen without your help. So here are things you can do to help us out so that we can continue making music and continue touring the country to share our music with you:
