Hi everyone. There is a lot of buzzing going on about the band and it has to do with all the cool gigs coming up, and the upcoming release of our debut CD.
Ft Myers Thursday Sep 10th @ the Spot, Gainesville Friday Sep 11th @ the Backstage Lounge, Naples Saturday Sep 12th @ the Tavern, and Port Charlotte Sunday Sep 13th @ the Charlotte County Speedway 3:15pm showtime. We have been blessed with some interest in the band and are also booking a tour to the Midwest in Nov, visiting Dirty Jack's in Cincinnati and the Metal Shaker in Chicago for now. More to come unless it's not in the stars. Thanks to all our friends, new and not so new, for supporting the music and us. You know you're the shizznit. I hope to see some of you at one of our shows, if not all of them (we can dream, right?).

Don't forget about the Battle of the Bands @ Eddie Fishbowls on Sunday Sep 6th. I think we'll be going on after 8pm, but the whole thing goes from 2pm-2am. I think all the bands will get to do their thing but it will take all day, so if you can hang, let's start the party.
Finally, our CD is on a deadline for release before the tour starts in Nov so look for our local CD release party at a prominent local establishment prior to that.

RY: Your newest single, “Love Is The Thing,” has been recorded with an iPhone app called FourTrack…
AM: We found out that FourTrack lets you do multi-tracking on it. I thought it would just be a fun experiment to see how it would sound recording the entire band. It took a day. We set aside a couple hours and we used toy instruments. The drummer played on a very miniature children’s drumset and the bass player ran his bass through a tiny practice guitar amp. I played a little, cheap $150 Yahama keyboard and we just recorded everything on the phone. I ended up fixing it on the computer and then put it up on iTunes and ended up getting a bunch of press around it, which was pretty unexpected.
RY: Do you feel that the accessibility of such recording technology in the present day has made the process of recording music too easy as opposed to the old method of first gaining a recording contract and then having to fork over money for expensive studio time?
| AM: I think it’s great for musicians since they’re able to record anytime they want for a small amount of money. Yeah, you needed to depend on record companies in the old days because that was the only way to record your music: spend a lot of money and get into those recording studios. Nowadays, you can do it on your phone or on a computer with recording software. I think it’s great that anyone is able to do it now. The good stuff is going to get attention and get out there. The fact that anyone can do it is pretty cool.

The theme for the evening, "Stardust Au Go Go," will be paying homage to the golden age of parties with a night of glam, disco and pop the way the rock Gods intended; semi-sweet, sexy, and spaced out.
Sophe Lux will kick off the night with their incredible, freaky cabaret pop, described by the Philadelphia Weekly as “concept-loving, rock-opera terrorists”. Stereovision rocks the second set with their Bowie-in-a-disco-on-acid take on pop-rock. And then we will be sending the night out with a bang, playing the new album in its entirety along with some old favorites and a few brand new gems as well!
And as if that wasn’t enough….
Bringing both Stardust and Go Go to the night will be a pulse-quickening burlesque show with the bewitching NagaSita and the grand dame of glam Sadie LaGuerre! And overseeing what will sure to be an epic evening will be the charming and mostly trustworthy host William Batty of the fabled Wanderlust Circus, who has promised to “glam it up” for the evening and put a little sting into the Stardust for us.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY has dropped off the remaining dates on the "Pedal To The Metal Tour" due to the health of frontman Zakk Wylde. Wylde has been diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs and was admitted to a Eugene, Oregon hospital this afternoon.
The "Pedal To The Metal Tour" will continue without BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, and the rest of the bands — MUDVAYNE, STATIC-X, SUICIDE SILENCE and BURY YOUR DEAD — will carry on with the trek as scheduled. BLS apologizes to ticket holders on the remaining "Pedal To The Metal" dates for the inconvenience, as well as to all BLSNATION meet-and-greet purchasers who gathered for the event this afternoon in Eugene and in the remaining cities.
BLSNATION refunds will be processed promptly. Further updates on Zakk's medical condition will become available as they are known. |

| Bob Dylan, the singer-songwriter who has taken his fans down Highway 61 by way of Lonely Avenue and Desolation Row, is in negotiations to voice a satellite navigation system.
The music star claimed that he has been approached by more than one manufacturer keen to harness his unmistakeable, rasping tones - a voice which one critic memorably likened to sandpaper. He shared the news with listeners to his late-night radio show, Theme Time Radio Hour, which is broadcast on BBC Six Music.
"You know I don’t usually like to tell people what I’m doing, but I’m talking to a couple of car companies about the possibility of being the voice of their GPS system," he disclosed.

| MySpace is close to acquiring popular social music service iLike, we’ve confirmed with multiple sources. The deal, which should close this week, will be MySpace’s first acquisition since new CEO Owen Van Natta took control of the company in April 2009. The price is “around $20 million.”
iLike, which launched in late 2006, is a social music recommendation service that now has more than 50 million registered users. It tracks what you listen to and like and gives you recommendations on new music based on that data as well as what your friends are listening to. It is the top music application on Facebook, Bebo, Hi5 and just about every other social network other than MySpace, which has MySpace Music.

KISS - Remember That "New Kiss Album" Feeling..??

Wal-Mart is being embraced with a Kiss. The veteran heavy metal group, Kiss, is joining a growing list of classic acts putting out new music through the world's largest retailer.
"Sonic Boom" is due to be released only at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club on Oct. 6. It will include a CD of the band's first new music in 11 years, re-recorded versions of famous Kiss hits and a live DVD.
Other classic acts that have chosen to release albums through Wal-Mart include the Eagles, AC/DC and Foreigner.

WISHTRIBE - Kelly Griffin Enters The 48 Hour Film Project - And Kicks It!

Kelly "The Director Extraordinaire" from Wishtribe entered the 48 hour Film Project - where they have to pick the dialog, prop and other items from a hat, and then produce a 5 to 7 minute film.
Well, he won 'Best Use Of Prop, Best Dialog, Best Writing, Best Actor and the Audience Award" (Props to ya guys!).
I think it has one of the best "I'm WIRED" scenes ever!

ANDY KESSLER - Skateboard Pioneer Dies At 48
 |
Andy Kessler, a trailblazer during New York City's nascent 1970s skateboarding scene and a designer of skate parks who was admired by boarders on both coasts, has died. He was 48.
Kessler died Monday after suffering a heart attack following an allergic reaction to a wasp sting, said Moose Huerta, a close friend and fellow skateboarder.
He was dismantling old wood on a shack in Montauk, Long Island, when he was stung, said Tony Farmer, a skateboarding friend and West Coast native who now lives in Brooklyn.
Kessler got his start in the 1970s with a loose-knit group of skateboarders and graffiti artists known as the Soul Artists of Zoo York. They skated all over Manhattan's Upper West Side, where Kessler lived. Central Park's Bandshell was a favorite spot. |

RADIOHEAD - Will Stop Making Albums
| Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has said recording another album would "kill" the band because making records has become a "real drag" to them.
Speaking to US magazine The Believer, the singer said their last release, In Rainbows, worked because the group had a clear vision for the record.
"None of us want to go into that creative hoo-ha of a long-play record again. Not straight off," he said.
Yorke said making an album was hard, but it worked with their last record, because "we had a fixed idea about where we were going".
He added: "But we've all said that we can't possibly dive into that again. It'll kill us."
The band may start releasing one-off songs rather than full-length albums......
....or maybe they should just go direct and deliver ringtones? |

Also....2 members of WishTribe took the 48 Hour Film challenge this year (Kelly - Director / Gemini - Lead Actor). The film will be showing on the big screen at the Riverdale 10 on Wed. at 7:00pm and again at 8:30pm. They have gotten a lot of really good feedback on the 7 minute film this year and they invite all of you out to the Riverdale Mon-Wed at 7:00pm and again at 8:30pm for screenings of all of the films in the contest this year!

ARMY OF SOULS - Hanging In Chicago With The "Boys From Illinois"

We were invited to Chicago this weekend to help host and hang with the gang from Two Ton Anvil and Army Of Souls at Chicago City Limits.
Two Ton Anvil came on and got the show started....and then Army Of Souls brought in the troops to advance a night of hard core metal!
We had a blast hanging with the bands and fans - and we even gave away $100 in Ticketmaster Gift Certificates to our buddy "Dave From Wisconsin" for being the rowdiest fan there! Thanks Dave, you we're rockin'!
We also ran into our good friend Vince Consolo from Planet 10 Studios, one of the best new recording studios in Chicago - and one of the best drummers we know! (Look him up at NAMM !).

DIRTY PENNY - Strange, Unscheduled European Tour Dates Not Legit
| Fake Promoters using real bands to scam money ?? Everyone keep their eyes open......
Dear Dirty Penny Fans,
We first want to say thank you to all our fans in Europe who have responded to the supposed European tour dates that people have publicized. It excites us that so many of you have come across these supposed dates and are pumped to see us. Sadly though these dates are false. Our management is in the process of finding out who is spreading these rumors and publicizing these events.
Our management Fourteen39 is hard at work trying to secure a European tour for us in the near future, trust us they are working hard on getting us over to you. It has been a goal of Dirty Penny's for some time now to cross over the Atlantic and come play shows for you loyal fans. Currently our management is hard at work prepping our new album "Young & Reckless" for release as well as planning our Fall Album release tour that will be covering the USA and Canada. We are putting this letter out in the hope that none of you have spent your money on buying tickets to any of these shows. Again we apologize for the confusion. If we do confirm a European tour trust us - you our fans will be the first to know.

"We regret to announce the closing of Cup & Saucer Café after three and a half years in business. Call 513-544-7017 for information on buying the business. It was a good run for a mom & pop business, longer than many expected, especially considering that Marcy had a stroke just one month after we started. We had a lot of nice employees, customers, and entertainers but there were too many factors working against us. Maybe we’ll write a book about it when things calm down, but basically we had too many expenses, not enough income, and way too much stress. Health problems are the primary cause of failure of small business, and we had to bail out before it killed one or both of us. So everybody take care while we do the same. Some day we’ll get back to making Marcy Burgers, presenting great performers and taking photos of them. In the meantime keep in touch. We’d love for you to share your memories of Cup & Saucer and we’d also love to hear about your progress, especially if you got your start on our stage.
