DYING BREED welcomes the return of original bassist Jimmy Williams . Jimmy has been serving his country overseas the past 2 and a half years and is now finished with his service to our country (THANKS JIMMY!). Jimmy returns to DYING BREED just in time for some warm up shows before our major label showcase with Warner Bros. Records and other labels in Nashville Tennesse on Sept. 11th 2009 . Jimmy played bass on the self titled DYING BREED album and co wrote "Is this the end?" and other songs for the band. He brings an energetic live performance and an unmistakeable groove on the bass. We welcome him back and know that you fans do as well.
Bassist Jason Clark has departed from DYING BREED because of upcoming scheduling conflicts that were out of his control . Jason has worked hard and helped DYING BREED accomplish many things on the national level . Jason will turn his full attention to his band Seventh Hour . He will be missed by his band mates and fans . We wish him luck in his future endeavors . |
DYING BREED will be recording two new songs in the next two weeks to be released digitally on the internet . Labor day weekend will be the release of the new single. DYING BREED will also be taking new promo pictures in 3 weeks.... This will be a busy time for the band and we appreciate all the love and support our fans give us.

(Alleged) Substandard production at a Pepsi competition in Guangzhou resulted in several people being injured when the stage collapsed. Taiwanese singer Pan Yuwen was on stage at the time. Word on the street is that the both the band and the local promoter (Guangzhou ChangLong Group) requested all media NOT to report on the accident.

Damage Entertainment Inc. Studio was recently completed - we are lucky to be the first band to record a full-length in the new studio in central Ontario with our team Mike Gillies and Doug Adams. ProTools 'Guru' Mike Gillies has worked with a number of legendary artists such as Metallica, Motley Crue, Mudvayne, Bryan Adams, Willie Nelson and more. In addition, Doug Adams has worked on live production for a long list of world-class acts including Metallica, Michael Jackson (RIP), Green Day, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Korn, KISS, RUSH, Motley Crue and the list goes on across all genres of music...it's hard to express our excitement to have worked with such talented individuals.
Mastered by Andrew Mendelson(Korn, Willie Nelson, George Jones, Kenny Chesney) in Nashville TN on Music Row. We are waiting to solidify our distribution plans to get it out to all of you!

Knitting Factory to Close Hollywood Club

The rock n roll continues to disappear from Hollywood Boulevard. All-ages music venue the Knitting Factory is opting not to renew its lease at its current location and looks to shut its doors this fall. Concerts that include shows by metal act A Static Lullaby and Scottish indie rockers Frightened Rabbit are currently booked through mid-October at the venue, but barring last-minute renegotiations the Knitting Factory's final show will be around Oct. 31, Margolis said. A representative from property manager CIM Group declined to comment, but did confirm that the clubs lease is expiring.
Our lease is up Oct. 31, Margolis said. I've opted not to extend it. Were closing that location, but we are not out of the L.A. market. FULL ARTICLE |

The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is looking for volunteers to help out at the 2009 Vans Warped Tour in Cincinati, OH on July 29, 2009.
NOTE: Dates below need volunteers.
We are looking for friendly, out-going volunteers that are 18 years of age or older, to work side-by-side with the JLETB engineers in our sponsor tents.
Responsibilities will include:
Helping in our 2 Tents to collect email addresses
Promoting the equipment used on the Bus
Prize giveaways and raffles
Encouraging concert-goers to participate in our Rock Band 2 gaming tent
Having fun with our bull horn, water guns, and talking about the mission of the Bus
Volunteers will be asked to work one 5 hour shift, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., or from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Compensation: Free admission and other goodies thanks to our sponsors
We encourage friends to sign up and volunteer together! If you are interested in volunteering for more than one date, please let us know!

BILLY MARTINI - It's A CRAZY Show

| CNN reports today that a 53-year-old French man was killed Thursday when a stage being built for a Madonna concert collapsed in Marseille.
Another two people, one British and one American, were severely injured in the accident at the Stade Velodrome, and four were lightly injured, officer David Goddin told CNN.
"At this point we don't know how it happened, but we are confident no one else is still under the rubble," Goddin said.
So if you posted this news...would you show a picture of Madonna FLIPPING PEOPLE OFF..?????

EMI - Wants to cut costs, says must buy from "one stops" like Wal-Mart to sell instead.

The music industry knows how to hang out itself, even if it lacks the correct length pf rope. EMI, certainly reeling from declining physical album sales like the other Big 4 record labels, is now apparently telling independent album retailers that it will no longer sell them CDs.
That’s right, EMI apparently told them over the phone a few weeks ago, an oddly perverse means of notification, that henceforth it will no longer sell them physical albums and that they must go to “one stops” like Wal-Mart or Best Buy to buy product like everybody else to then in turn sell.

With the success of the project, Kim has witnessed the power of true fan support.
More than 100 fans contributed to the album presale that launched in June 2008. Altogether, Kim's supporters helped raise more than $8,400 towards recording costs. Pandora Forces $29.95 Payments From Indie Bands....
Yeah, we'll see how long this lasts....

Until recently, Pandora accepted music from indie artists at no cost in almost any form including home burned CD-R's. But now, in part because of a deal to display album cover art via Amazon's servers, submissions must be available as a physical CD for sale on Amazon and include cover art and a UPC code to even be considered for airplay.
Compliance with the new rules will cost artists in several ways. According to its FAQ page, to get play on Pandora you now need:
a CD of your music
a unique UPC code for that CD
your CD to be available through Amazon (must be a physical CD, not just MP3s for download)
the legal rights to your music
MP3 files for two of the songs from your CD
free Pandora account, based on a valid email address, which can be associated with your music
In addition to art and packaging costs, Pandora explains that to comply with the new “available through Amazon" rule, indie artists should join the Amazon Advantage Program. Membership costs $29.95 each year plus Amazon takes 55% of the list price of every CD sold. (WAY TOO MUCH!!!!)
Established artists and labels already comply with Pandora's new rules. But for an indie artist trying to win new fans with a little help from Pandora and to keep his hard earned cash by selling direct, the new threshold may shut off an important avenue for exposure.

MTV2 LOCAL MUSIC CONTESTS: WIN ON-AIR EXPOSURE WITHIN MTV’S BIGGEST MUSIC FRANCHISES
 
This summer MTV2 is searching for the hottest local talent across nine different regions in the US—and they’re looking on OurStage! As part of MTV2’s Local Music Series, OurStage will be hosting regional competitions for Rock, Hip-Hop and Latin artists. Three artists from each region will be selected from the fans’ Top 20 to duke it out for a chance to win on-air exposure within MTV’s biggest music franchises including the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, MTV2’s Rail N Rock and MTV2’s Sucker Free! Starting July 1st, artists located near Portland, San Francisco/Oakland, Boston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington DC and Los Angeles are invited to enter their best song into their local channel. New York City area artists can enter beginning August 1st. Accepted genres for each competition vary by region so be sure to check out your locale’s page to see if your music qualifies before entering!
