MICHAEL JACKSON - Dead!

From TMZ News..... "We've just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.
Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.
A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived.
LaToya ran in the hospital sobbing, after Jackson was pronounced dead. Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II."

MOBY - Disband RIAA!!

Following the recent jury decision against alleged file sharer Jammie Thomas, in which the woman was fined $80,000 USD for each of the 24 songs she shared via P2P, the popular artist Moby has written a blog entry claiming the RIAA "should be disbanded" for using the wrong techniques against people who are just trying to listen to music.
His full post:
"The riaa have sued Jammie Thomas-Rasset of minnesota for $2,000,000 for illegally downloading music.
argh. what utter nonsense. this is how the record companies want to protect themselves? suing suburban moms for listening to music? charging $80,000 per song?
punishing people for listening to music is exactly the wrong way to protect the music business. maybe the record companies have adopted the 'it's better to be feared than respected' approach to dealing with music fans. i don't know, but 'it's better to be feared than respected' doesn't seem like such a sustainable business model when it comes to consumer choice. how about a new model of 'it's better to be loved for helping artists make good records and giving consumers great records at reasonable prices'?
i'm so sorry that any music fan anywhere is ever made to feel bad for making the effort to listen to music.

| VOID808 had to cancel this evening's show at the GOOD HURT in LA due to the "drummer breaking his finger during practice".

"We have had to cancel our show at Good Hurt Club in Los Angeles. Our drummer, Brandon, broke his finger last night at practice and won't be able to play for a while. We hope he is feeling better soon and able to get back to the drums. Please catch out next show on July 11 at the Mitsubishi Owners Event in Cypress, CA"

"Had our gig at the Islington Academy 2 last night as part of the Britbus tour. It was sponsored by Guitar Hero which meant that the headline act was a 3 piece consisting of an Xbox 360 backed by a plastic guitar and drumkit. Despite playing second fiddle to a computer game, the gig itself was really enjoyable and the crowd really responded as we ripped through our 25 minute set. This proves once again that the only equation in music that still seems to add up is: Great venue + Great crowd = Great gig."
"Next stop is Chesham on Saturday (June 20th) where we will be playing in the courtyard of a Tudor Manor. Not really sure what to expect but i'd imagine this time we'll be sharing the bill with some wandering minstrels, acrobats, jesters and a public execution."

Rising Indie Stars Get New (Revamped) UK Charts
The Horrors have received acclaim for their second album Primary Colours |
Two new music charts are to highlight rising alternative artists.
The independent breakers charts will feature acts who are not signed to major labels and who have never reached the mainstream top 20.
The likes of Bon Iver, Friendly Fires, The Horrors and Grizzly Bear are likely to feature when the new charts, for singles and albums, launch on 29 June.
That will coincide with an overhaul for the main independent charts, which were first published in 1978.
Artists who are not signed to the four major record labels will be eligible for the new countdowns.
Previously, the rules let in artists on labels with independent distribution.
Martin Talbot of the Official Charts Company said: "The independent record sector has changed beyond recognition since these charts were initially borne out of the punk/new wave surge of the late 1970s and early '80s.
"This new set of rules is designed to address those changes," he added.

INN CINEMA - JUNE 13TH! **ALL AGES CANCER BENEFIT**

We've got about 1 week left to go! Make your plans now so nothing gets in the way of this, it's gonna be a GREAT time and for a GREAT cause!
On June 13th, Inn Cinema is very glad to help be a part of a benefit show designed to raise money for Cancer research and treatment. This will be an all-day long, ALL AGES event, with 10 bands, starting at noon, at KC's Cabin in Spring Grove IL. Music, raffles, food, and drinks will be available throughout the length of the show which will end around midnight. On top of that, it's an outdoor show, there's volleyball courts and a TON of ways to have a ridiculously good time with us all rockin' your asses off in the background.
Last year there was over $5,000 raised and this year we're hoping to try and double that amount! There will be plenty of room for as many people as you can bring, and the more the better - this is a GREAT cause and will be a HUGE party for sure!
Ages 10+ = $12 donation
Ages 5-9 = $6 donation
Under 5 years = Free admission
Rest assured this will not be some Celine Dion pudding fest, we are gonna ROCK *HARD* along with all the other bands that are fortunate enough to be a part of this as well!

SOLEGION Signs Worldwide Record Deal With MORTAL MUSIC!
| It's official...SOLEGION signs with MORTAL MUSIC with distro through MVD DISTRO WORLDWIDE!
Mortal Music is owned by Tim King of SOIL and Rob Such of TWELFTH GATE. The band will be heading to Chicago, IL from July 11 - July 25 to record at DOPE FACTORY STUDIOS owned by Edsel Dope of DOPE. The album will be engineered by Justin Wilk (Staind, Plain White T's, Black Tide, Finger Eleven), produced by Tim King, and mixed and mastered by AJ Cavalier (singer of SOIL). The cd should hit stores (FYE, Target, Best Buy, Hot Topic, etc.) in early November.

Charlotte rock band the Stellas had only toured as far as Atlanta and Raleigh before last month. Now its members can say they've toured the world.
Last week, the foursome returned from a 16-day tour of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kyrgyzstan, where they rallied troops with spiky, original alternative rock and bouncy covers of Weezer, the Beatles and Ace of Base (no, they're not joking). The group plays a welcome-home gig tonight at Amos' Southend.
“I saw a band talking about it in Spin magazine,” says bassist Josh Knight, 29, an Air National Guardsman whose job has taken him to the Middle East numerous times since 2002. Knight submitted a media kit to AFE in January. By May, the four-piece band – Fort Mill's Knight and drummer Jacob Warden and Indiana natives Adam Middleton (vocals/guitar) and Shaun McFall (guitar/vocals) – were on a plane....

Rockstar Mayhem Contest Begins Today! The Pick The Band Rockstar Mayhem contest begins today, June 1st. After hundreds of band submissions, the top 15 bands were selected by our judges for this contest.
