"Amandas new band "Struck" has formed."

""Hello everyone. I am very excited to bring to you my new band "Struck". I have a great group of people to work with. James Brock on Guitar, Rosalba Brock on keys, and Dee Robinson on bass. We are currently auditioning drummers and are confident we will find the right guy soon. We are in the studio recording a two song demo, and I will have a my space and web site up soon! I have recently been able to work with Heather Verde who is a amazing photographer. She was easy to work with and captured what Struck is about. Ethereal, beautiful, strong, and real! Thanks Heather. You can see her work on my page and please visit her site as well. BIG thanks to Dawn Rottersman for creating some amazing artwork for Struck to use. You will be seeing more of it when the my space and web site are created.

THANKS to all of you that support me no matter what. Real people like you keep me going."

The 419 Scam...With A New Musical Twist
mockingshadows.jpg
The Mocking Shadows warn about a scam targeting muscians
A Calgary band that thought it had landed the gig of a lifetime is warning other musicians about an internet scam.

The Mocking Shadows, an R&B and ska jazz band that has played small venues around the world, received an email earlier this month offering them a slot at a festival in England in June.

A subsequent contract offer of about $17,000 for a performance of half an hour raised warning bells, so the band's manager called the London venue listed on the paperwork.

"They looked at their schedule and they had no idea what I was talking about and said they couldn't help me out and that was the end of the conversation," manager Jon Pettigrew told CBC News on Tuesday.

When Pettigrew called the promoter, he was asked for more information: "He wanted my work address, along with my home address, my phone numbers and any relevant banking information." That's when the band ended communication.

Not exactly a new scam, but new for targeting musicians...keep your eyes open!

Suburban Legends requests your support for Ryan Dallas Cook
SANTA ANA, Calif. -- Arraignment is scheduled Monday for an ex-Hyundai executive extradited from South Korea on vehicular manslaughter and DUI charges stemming from a 2005 crash in Santa Ana that allegedly followed a night of heavy drinking with co-workers.

Youn Bum Lee, 42, formerly of Irvine, arrived in Orange County on Friday to face charges stemming from the death of 23-year-old Ryan Dallas Cook of Fountain Valley, said Farrah Emami of the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Brian Robertson of Suburban Legends writes: "We would like to invite anyone who would like to attend. During this hearing the lawyers will present the Judge with all the evidence that has been accumulated over the past years. This is the point in the case where the Judge will find there is enough evidence to talk the case to trial or the Judge could present a deal to Youn Bum Lee in order to keep the case from going to trial. We feel that if there is a strong showing of people who loved Ryan the judge will take notice and not present the deal but instead set a court date"

TuneCore, Amazon Set to Unveil On-Demand CD Sales
tunecore_promo.jpg TuneCore is poised to partner with Amazon’s on-demand CD-printing-and-distribution service, Wired.com has learned. It’s a deal that could put powerful new physical publishing options in the hands of musicians, even as the world goes increasingly digital.

The service is expected to be announced Thursday, linking Amazon with TuneCore, a novel digital distribution startup that’s made waves signing the likes of Trent Reznor, Keith Richards and other stars seeking a way out of the label system, as well as slews of garage bands and hopefuls on their way up.

Tunecore will charge just $31 a year in upfront fees to handle a 10-track CD from pressing to delivery, passing all other costs through to the buyer. In other words, the service promises to remove nearly all of the risks of short-run CD manufacturing, which can cost musicians hundreds or even thousands of dollars for discs that rarely sell enough to cover expenses. A First - The Indie Rock Coloring Book for charity
The Indie Rock Coloring Book, which features colouring and activity pages by British graphic designer Andy J. Miller that were inspired by musicians, will be published in September.

Rilo Kiley, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Devendra Banhart, Bon Iver, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The New Pornographers, The Shins, Iron & Wine, Andrew Bird, MGMT, The Magic Numbers, The National, Broken Social Scene and Bloc Party are among the acts represented and ready for colouring in the book, which will be published by Raincoast Books in Canada and Chronicle Books elsewhere.

"This is the greatest coloring book since coloring was invented," says The National's Matt Berninger. "I've decided to have kids just so I'll have somebody to give this book to."

All royalties from the book will benefit Yellow Bird Project, which raises money for such charities as Art For Change, Transportation Alternatives, AIDS Society Of Canada, Teenage Cancer Trust, Safe Space, Lake Ontario Waterkeeper and The Elliot Smith Memorial Fund. BoostIndependentMusic.com launches dedicated licensing service today
boostlogo.jpg
Los Angeles, CA, May 16, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Independent Online Music Store Boost - www.BoostIndependentMusic.com – has entered the royalty free music market, launching its dedicated licensing service today.

Boost Independent Music is an online music store for independent and unsigned artists, with a rapidly expanding catalogue of over 10,000 songs across a huge variety of styles from Rock to Children’s to Classical to Rap.

“Our market research showed a large gap in the supply of quality, reasonably priced royalty free music. Boost Music allows its artists to retain 100% copyright of their material, leaving them free to negotiate a reasonable licensing fee with no industry middle-men taking their huge percentage cut” said Boost CEO Graeme Longworth. “Essentially our artists are looking for exposure and if your project can offer this you can be assured they are going to offer an attractive licensing deal.”

Boost Independent Music can supply quality music tracks for a wide range of projects, from advertisements and corporate videos through to documentary and fitness instruction classes. The site features an easy to use search and navigation function to allow you to refine your requirements to look at recordings from specific genres to match them to your next project.

Things may come unglued at Paste Magazine...
Like every other magazine today, independent music magazine Paste has fallen on hard times. It's gotten so bad at the Decatur, Ga.-based pub that they won't be able to publish their June issue -- without some help.

Last night, the magazine appealed to its readers, asking them to donate whatever they could to make sure Paste can survive well into the future. In return for donations, readers will get access to music that they can't get anywhere else, available for download on Paste's site. Donors will also have the opportunity to win prizes like signed posters and an ocean-view cabin on next year's Cayamo Cruise.

The list of artists who've made their music available includes Arrested Development, Ben Folds, Cowboy Junkies, Neko Case, String Cheese Incident, Umphree's McGee and many, many more.

Indies On TV - Let the wars begin....
briWill.jpgabc_harris_080903_mn.jpg CBS.jpg
Ok...it looks like some people are catching on, but why these guys? Brian Williams (NBC) has started "BriTunes" (nice name) to introduce Indie bands and Dan Harris has the same with "Amplified" (a little better name).

Now obviously we appreciate any Indie promotion given, but how are they pickin' 'em? Do they do this 24/7? Harris is using Pitchfork, but Williams...? Still giving us a chosen selection from what they like...instead of what you choose and placed on the CHARTS! Many CHARTS! And can you see either of these two at a concert - a mosh pit? They're funny!

Well, I guess there's a slot open for something like this at CBS.....we're waiting for their call :)
Black Sonic Rocks Liechtenstein!
Black Sonic held their CD Release party for 7 Deadly Sins in Liechtenstein and the place was rocking! So rockin' I might add, they ended up turning people away at the door.

BLACK SONIC hail from the small European principality of Liechtenstein, nestled in the Alps between Switzerland and Austria. Their unique sound is similarly wedged somewhere between the rocky peaks and gorges of Guns ‘N’ Roses, Nickelback and Metallica, and under their previous name of Black Sonic Prophets, they’ve already generated international attention with their EPs and 2006 debut album, “Out Of The Light - Into The Night”, along with sweat-drenched live shows that have consistently left audiences in Western and Northern Europe gasping for breath and screaming for more.

Food For Thought? - Dinner With The Band TV

New Haven Advocate: Food Fight Network
"The host is tattooed and goateed Sam Mason—“part rocker, part chef”—of New York’s WD-50, who employs the musical fingers of touring bands for help in making such exotic specialties as black olive cobbler and miso butterscotch halibut (along with more staid creations, like steak and frites and bagels and lox)."

Well, now I'm hungry.....

The Austin Business Journal reports that the first show aired by Austin-based ON Networks when the digital media company launched in 2007, is being sold to The Independent Film Channel.

“We’re thrilled to see "Dinner with the Band" join a well-respected network like IFC,” said Jen Grogono, co-founder of ON Networks. “The originality of the show concept, combined with engaging and authentic talent, is a great example of what quality digital programming is all about.”

No More Goobyes on Indy's X-103 and CD Release June 26th
No More Goodbyes on X103

Whats up too all out there! We appreciate all of you that call in and request No More Goodbyes to be played on the radio! It's exciting to know all of our fans are putting the rest of Indy on notice that we are here to take over......keep it coming. It was brought to our attention that we have been featured on X-103 several times, and in excellent time slots (6pm & 9:30am). Apparently the song being spun by the "X" is our song titled, "ON THE RADIO". Ironic huh?

Well we are now a part of a new service that is linked to X-103, and several other hundred radio stations across the U.S. This site is set-up to give bands like us access to other services that we would not know about if not for the radio stations participating. The number of airplays depends on the number of fans who visit our site and play our music. We really need our fans help on this. This is a great chance for the band to be heard NATIONALLY! Great exposure, and a great way to get us to the top and get some of the garbage off the airways. http://www.myspace.com/nomoregoodbyesindy

ALSO................

And also be sure to remember June 26, 2009. We will be releasing our debut CD titled, "SCARS of TOMORROW". The party will be @ 8 Seconds Saloon in Indianapolis. More details coming soon. JUNE 26th people!
